This September get ready to see Geetanjali on big screen in her first flick Tina Ki Chaabi along side Ranvir Shorey.

A film directed by Amit Saxena of Jism fame. And in case you cannot be patient enough for September, cherish the most exclusive pictures Geetanjali has shared with us..

Bollywood

"I've grown up watching Hindi films in Sikkim. Although I can't really speak the language very well. I've just entered Bollywood but haven't seen much of it yet. Whatever I've seen I've liked."

Favourite films

"I cannot pin point any particular film that I like. All the films that come on television out here are the ones I love. I remember watching Kal Ho Naa Ho while I was in school and loved the film. The last movie which I really liked was Jab We Met. I've also seen my co-star Ranvir Shorey's film Ugly Aur Pagli. It was a fun filled film that I enjoyed. I've liked the story of Amit's earlier film Jism too."

Hindi

"I enjoyed dubbing for Tina Ki Chaabi. It was great. In the entire filming process, Amit Saxena didn't want any voice over for my part and was pretty sure to stick around with what I knew. Though I am now very familiar with the Hindi language and have improved my skills."

Favourite Genre

"I love watching movies and any genre is good as long as the story is good. Off late it has kept on changing. Currently I'm totally into chic-flicks; I like horror films after few days."

Favourite Director

"At the moment it has to be Amit Saxena (laughs). But I love Baz Luhrman films Australia and Moulin Rouge. He is my favourite."

Favourite Celebrity

"From the male actors, I like and adore Aamir Khan. He can be simple, stylish and elegant at the same time.

From the actresses, I like Sonam Kapoor a lot. She carries herself very well. Actually all of the new heroines are so pretty and gorgeous that I like all of them."

Sikkim

"Sikkim wasn't a part of India for a very long time. 1975 was the year it became an Indian state. I love the home food of Sikkim. It's yummy. It's a mix of Tibetan food, the Bhutanese, the Nepalese food, the Middle East, etc. My favourite food is Mo Mo's and Thukpa."

Mumbai

"I've never been to this beautiful city and haven't seen much of Mumbai to tell you the truth. Before I came from Sikkim, my friends took me out to town in Colaba for my farewell bash.

I loved it out there. I love getting my hands into Mumbai's famous pani-puri, bhel-puri, etc. But I remember having Falooda which isn't a Mumbai specialty but it's my favourite."

Favourite Ramp Model

"I've worked with the designers of the Lakme India Fashion Week but I am a bit short to walk on the ramp. I've done a lot of photo shoots. It may come across as pretty strange but I like Milind Soman. He is an inspiration."

Luck: Movie Review

Director: Soham Shah
Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan, Shruti Hassan, Danny
Rating:**

Reality television comes to big screen but the fear factor
is that it's too pretentious. So in the same South African city where Akshay Kumar played host to daredevil girls, Sanjay Dutt challenges an eclectic group to perform stunts for his betting business. Predictably you also know their order of elimination with the junior artists getting knocked-off first and subsequently the hero (Imran Khan) surviving over the villain (Ravi Kishen). Ironically, while reality shows are unnecessarily scripted, films which need a tight script are loosely written.

The first half of the film is merely devoted to character introductions though none are convincingly established. For the zillionth time, Sanjay Dutt repeats his gun-toting act, moving around in sherwani, jackets and a French beard in the company of black-suited bodyguards. What more, even his name isn't any different - Musa. Ram Mehra (Imran Khan) has to repay the 20 crores that his late father had lost in stock market. Retired Major Jawar Pratap Singh (Mithun Chakravarthy) has the same conflict that Amitabh Bachchan had in Kaante - needs money for his ailing wife. For the neighbouring country connection, the script takes a Shortcut (Chitrashi Rawat). The best is yet to come! When a loose noose fails to hang rapist Raghav (Ravi Kishen) to death, he is officially set free by the law.

The group is hand-picked by Tamang (Danny) for Musa who indulges into the most synchronized corny conversations in the film. As he gets the team to South Africa, Musa makes them aim on each other at point blank range (in a scene directly lifted from 13 Tzameti) and only peripheral characters from the circle are subtracted.

What follows is a series of terminal tasks where not the mighty but the lucky would survive. So the characters have their legs gobbled up by rubber sharks and look plastic as they fall off parachutes. Amidst all this action, the director is inclined to force a mandatory romance track (through nonexistent chemistry between Imran and Shruti Hassan) and a rape attempt to reach a speeding climax.

The opening and ending action sequences by Allan Amin are convincingly choreographed but the intermediate stunts appear too artificial. The director tries to cover up the patchiness of the action by Santosh Thundiyil's erratic camerawork but it only disturbs more. The banter between characters in confrontational scenes looks too rehearsed. Each one has a dramatized mugged-up response to complement the opponent's remarks. The emotional connect with viewer is certainly missing despite director Soham Shah's repeated attempts to induce sentiments.

Sanjay Dutt's screen presence in the film is equivalent to Akshay Kumar's contribution to Fear Factor minus his stunts. Imran Khan gives a decent performance though he can go easy on his lip movements. Shruti Hassan is synthetic and fails to impress. Danny is better amongst others but his character is short-lived in the second half. Ravi Kishen, Mithun and Chitrashi are passable.

The script of the film relies too much on coincidental luck. Director Soham Shah rubs too hard on luck but at the same time stresses on the adage that 'the only thing certain about luck is it's going to change'. On that thought here's wishing him better luck next time!

Akshay Found a New Partner in Sonam

akshay sonam
It’s a sequel of 2006’s romantic comedy Pyaar Ke Side Effects, in which Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor will replace Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat.

The film was a much loved film of 2006, in which Rahul Bose played a commitment phobic boy, however his girlfriend Mallika Sherawat all wanted is to get married and have babies. Now the director of the film Saket Chaudhary who was planning for its sequel from some time is finally ready with the script for the sequel. However this time Akshay will play the role of Siddharth Bose, the man can’t imagine settling down with one woman. Producer Pritish Nandy believes that Akshay is the right and only choice for the role.

“When we planned the sequel, Akshay Kumar was the first and only choice. He has that roguish charm which can take Sid’s role further, not only through one sequel but also a couple of others,” said Nandy.

However the latest sensation of Bollywood Akshay says, “The script is funny and interesting. Saket is a talented director and I am always looking for fresh talented directors to work with.”

Movie still from Pyaar Ke Side Effects

Here is a little disappointment for fans which were willing to see Akshay and Mallika Sherawat together, because Mallika refused to act in the sequel. Now the producer is eyeing for Sonam Kapoor to cast opposite Akshay. Before PKSE 2, Akshay and Sonam were supposed to act together in Rohit Dhavan’s (son of David Dhawan) directorial debut, but that film for a moment is stopped for some alteration.

The producer confirmed this and said, “Yes, we want Sonam with Akshay in PKSE 2. As soon as Akshay’s dates are in place, we’ll approach her. Akshay is as imperative to the project as RD Burman’s music was to Jhankaar Beats.”

Bebo to join Facebook

Guess who is going to be on Facebook soon, it’s Kareena Kapoor. She will be visiting the social-networking site for 30 minutes “to say hello” to her well wishers and fans.

Kareena says, I’ve been repeatedly told that I’ve the maximum number of fans and well-wishers on Facebook. I could never find the time to connect with them. More importantly, I was too shy. I can’t bring myself to answer over-specific questions on my activities, where I am, what I do, eat, etc.”

“It was Saif who introduced me to the computer. He does practically all his work on the internet. He coaxed me into understanding the basics. And then I got hooked, though not to social networking because I’m too private a person to share my day-to-day movements and activities even with my closest friends.”

“I now realize it’s a whole large global community out there on the computer. I can’t blog about my life. But I need to understand and connect with the internet community. In fact.”

“Imtiaz said the number of people on Facebook who put up my pictures and messages about me had to be seen to be believed. I’ll now be going on Facebook in a few days to interact with my friends there.”

Saif introduced you to computers???? Then what did you learn at Harvards for 3-months in the micro-computer course?? She sounds like Paris Hilton here – dumb!!!

Jehad has changed the way I look at Islam: Saif

Saif Ali Khan Born and brought up in a non-conservative westernized atmosphere Saif Ali Khan says he has gone through a life- changing experience while working in Rensil d’Silva’s film where the actor gets out of the Saif zone to play an Ismalic fundamentalist.

“The role has not only made me more politically aware it has also made me more religious. I knew a lot of things about Islam. But I was always more spiritual than religious.Working in Rensil’s film has made me know more about the religion.

I did a lot of reading on Islam during this film. I was always more spiritual than religious. I always believed in the Higher Power. The one most decisive thing that I learnt had to do with Allah. We tend to presume that to be the Muslim God.

But Allah is the Arab word for the Same God, or the One True God. That, I thought, was a wonderful thing to learn while doing this character. All religions believe in the oneness of God. So what’s all the fighting about?

Whether it’s Christianity, Islam or Judaism, many of the religions have fought a holy war at one time or another. It’s been a part of religious history.”

Saif admits doing the character in Rensil’s film has changed his perception to life and religion. “It’s the most politically relevant character I’ve played. Though my Langda Tyagi in Omkara was a political creature his politics was subverted.

In Rensil’s film I play the Jehadi as a very real and suave gentleman, dressed in very dapper clothes like a college professor, and hence more frightening

As frank as ever Saif says, “Yes I play an Islamic fundamentalist while Vivek Oberoi plays the more moderate Muslim.”

Irrfan Khan says being a Muslim he’d never play a terrorist. In fact he turned down Vivek’s role in Rensil’s film.

“Did he?” drawls Saif quizzically from New York. “To me the whole point of being an actor is to become characters I can’t be in real life. My character in Rensil’s film is redeemed at the end.

But even if he wasn’t I’d still say yes to a role that explores my emotions that lie too deep for fears and tears. My character in Rensil’s film has become the way he has because of the way Americans have treated Afghanistan and other Islamic states.”

26/11, says Saif, has not affected the way he looks at his character in Rensil’s film. “I don’t think 26/11 or earlier 9/11 are Islamic acts. No matter what people say I don’t think any terrorist is a Muslim. Let’s make that distinction very clear. Of course the population of Afghanistan may disagree with me. But I condemn 26/11 as a deed done by non-Muslims.”

Putting an end to the title dispute for Rensil d’Silva’s film once and for all Saif says, “This film has to be called Jehad. There’s no other title for it. But I don’t think our producer has the title yet.”
